Equipment

Hans has always been very concerned to use the best equipment avaliable. Before the digital era he was using large format cameras for 4x5” and 8x10” film. Now he is using  Hasselblad H3DII-39 , H3DII-50 and H4D-40 cameras. The operation of the large format cameras was slow and difficult and the sheet film was expensive to buy and to develope. The digital Hasselblad is a lot quicker to use and has a far greater tonal range than film. This makes it the best tool he has ever used during his career.

“Comparing the image quality between 35mm digital and medium format digital, is like going from 2D to 3D. Scrutinising a large print says it all. On my aerials, I can even identify the birds on the ground, 400m under me. When I moved from 35mm to medium format I got the spirit and excitement back into my photography. Now I am shooting 8x10” quality at one frame per second and this with far more control than with film.”
